WELCOMING AN AMERICAN STUDENT

In the Spring and Fall semesters, we welcome one post-graduate per semester to work alongside the American Friends of Belvoir Castle team. This is a unique opportunity to help launch the career of an aspiring American graduate/young professional and attend a marketing-focused internship at Belvoir Castle.

The lucky individuals will:

  • Gain first-hand knowledge of how a major British heritage estate is managed day-to-day.
  • Acquire professional skills in social media marketing, supporting the Castle’s outreach and brand presence.
  • Build valuable international work experience, enhancing their résumé and career prospects in marketing, communications, and heritage management.

The program includes a competitive selection process where candidates will submit their CVs to the American Friends of Belvoir Castle board.

Our first intern’s story was one of growth and new opportunities. Moving from Glasgow, Kentucky, to England is no small feat—but for our American intern, it was a bold step toward growth and adventure. A Public Relations major with a passion for new perspectives, she chose to spend a semester abroad at Harlaxton College and accepted an exciting internship with American Friends of Belvoir Castle.

What began as a unique opportunity soon became one of the most transformative experiences of her life. From managing social media content to engaging with the historic charm of Belvoir Castle, she’s been putting her skills to work in a setting unlike any other. Thanks to a scholarship covering her flight and work visa, she was able to turn this dream into reality—and she’s been making the most of every moment.
